Reminds me of being a bad, bad nine year old boy. One Friday night round May 1973 i tried to plug a speaker into the mains hoping i'd get music out of it. But all i got was a loud bang. It took my father ages to fix it but when he finally did so and connected it to it's source of music, this track was on the programme that was on the radio. And the speaker sounded far better than it had done before i broke it. Still what this track
I liked Uriah Heep when I was a kid, but although it's catchy and well played/sung, I just could never bring myself to put myself on the side of a guy who 'stole' his 'love' from the 'rancher's daughter' rather than paying for it. Maybe I'm reading too much into it, but it really sounds like a certain four-letter word which sounds a lot like 'grape'...
Just saw 'em in Grand Rapids Michigan- still sound great! I also wore this out...60 years old- Late/early adopter depending on your outlooks. Older siblings who rocked the " music from my mother house"
Cozy Powell was - STILL IS - the greatest drummer. To me, the best. Next to him, John Bonham and Neil Peart. But IMHO, Cozy, beat them all. And he became bigger with time. Sadly gone too soon and too youg... but he lives in his music. BRAVO COZY!!!!
Boney M completely ripped off this drum and guitar riff on their Nightflight to Venus track. It’s so blatant even the vocal chants are the same! Hope Cozy sued Frank Farian! This version is excellent and ultimately the best.
Under the gaze of a contemplative narrator, Uriah Heep's "The Dance" becomes a poem about the human experience, a reflection of the ephemeral beauty and complexity of life itself. In this composition, the image in the room becomes a metaphor for existence, marked by the magic and mystery that lie behind the surface. The question posed about what makes this image so appealing suggests a deeper search for meaning, an exploration of the attraction of the unknown and the unexplored. The presence of the dancers in the image evokes a sense of movement and vitality, while the dance itself becomes a symbolic representation of life and its many facets. The dancer, with her grace and beauty, stands as a symbol of humanity, moving in harmony with the flow of existence. As the song progresses, the image fades and the colors are released, suggesting a moment of transcendence and liberation. Here, in the frameless space of human experience, each and every one of us becomes part of the dance, merging into the unity of being. Ultimately, "The Dance" becomes a reminder of the beauty and mystery of life, a musical poem that invites the listener to reflect on the meaning and fleeting nature of human existence.
